Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Vinlex Technologies handles personal information when you use Peekaboo and this website.

Last updated October 13, 2026

Who to contact

Vinlex Technologies operates Peekaboo. For support, privacy questions, access requests, corrections, or deletion requests, email team@vinlex.net.

Information we use

  • Account and profile: your sign-in provider’s account identifier, email if provided, display name, username, profile photo or customized mascot, settings, and account status. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
  • Your content: photos, videos, voice notes, captions, clues, pinned places, daily answers, guesses, reactions, and reports you submit.
  • Social activity: follower connections and requests, invitations, saved content, unlocks, progress, and rewards.
  • Notifications and service activity: your device’s push token, notification preferences, app activity needed to operate features, and technical records used for reliability, security, and abuse prevention.

Location and map pins

We use location, with your permission, to show nearby places, help you choose a pin, check arrival at a Peek, and verify optional visit rewards. Your selected pins and submitted guesses are saved to make those features work. Your phone may also remember its last location to reopen maps near you.

Follower location sharing is off unless you enable it. When enabled, your latest location is stored and can be shown to eligible followers who also share with you, subject to blocking and freshness rules. Background access allows sharing or arrival checks when the app is closed. Turn sharing off in Peekaboo Settings and manage location access in your device Settings.

Personal Peek spots are accessible to their creator and intended recipients. Public mysteries are designed to be discoverable by other users, and guessing can reveal the answer location. Avoid publishing your home address or another person’s private location.

Contacts and invitations

Contact access is optional. If you choose to find people from your contacts, phone numbers are normalized and hashed on your device before matching with registered accounts. Matching uses a server-side keyed hash. We do not upload or retain your full address book.

If you explicitly invite someone, their number is sent to our service to deliver that invitation. Contact names used to display invitations and suggestions can remain on your device. You can use Peekaboo without granting contact access.

How information is used and shared

We use information to sign you in, save your profile and progress, deliver Peeks, operate mysteries and map guesses, send enabled notifications, respond to support requests, and protect the service. Content is shared according to the feature and audience you choose. Public posts and answers may be visible to people you do not follow.

Service providers help with hosting, authentication, storage, notifications, invitations, and content moderation. These include Supabase, Expo, Apple, Google, and, when enabled, our media-safety provider Sightengine. Uploaded media may be checked for safety and reviewed by authorized moderators. We require service providers to protect personal information and use it to provide the relevant services.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or to address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or threats to people’s safety.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information and content as needed to provide the service, honor your settings, maintain safety, and meet legal obligations. A Peek’s expiry controls when it is available to open; expiry does not mean every associated record or backup is immediately erased. Cleanup processes remove expired or deleted media, while retained activity can support your archive, progress, and safety investigations.

You can delete your account from Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your account and associated app records and media, subject to information that must be retained for legal or security reasons and the normal lifecycle of service backups. If you cannot access your account, contact team@vinlex.net. We may need to verify ownership before handling a request.

Your choices

  • Manage camera, microphone, contacts, location, and notification permissions in your device Settings.
  • Turn follower location sharing on or off in Peekaboo Settings.
  • Manage notification categories, block users, and report content in the app.
  • Use Settings → Export my data, or email us to request access, corrections, or deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights.

Security and international processing

We use access controls and protected media access to limit who can retrieve account data and content. No online service can guarantee complete security. Our service providers may process information outside your country, where privacy laws may differ.

This website

The Vinlex website uses Vercel Analytics for website usage information. Hosting providers also process technical requests to serve these pages. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include; do not send passwords or sign-in codes.

Children and policy changes

Use of Peekaboo is subject to the applicable age and consent requirements where you live. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information can contact us. We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date above. See our Terms of Use for use of the service.
